Finding Phimai

Finding Phimai Historical Park was a total fluke. I checked out of the hotel and was exploring the area when there was a sudden change in my bodily function. 'Hurricane Pad Thai' was growing inside my belly and was set to explode within minutes. All hands were on deck to find a restroom as I knew there wasn't much time.
Arriving at Phimai was definitely an out of body experience and I can only imagine that arriving at the gates of heaven would be the next equivalent. I raced to the restroom like a Ting Tong Farang (crazy westerner) and was hoping that the bathroom was clean without any hidden surprises. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, public toilets can be a traumatic experience for anyone involved and I needed something clean and private until Hurricane Pad Thai had passed.
Thankfully the facilities are well maintained and this tropical cyclone inside me was quickly downgraded. I learn't one valuable lesson; Isaan food and my stomach doesn't go well together. Isaan food is by far my favourite type of Thai food but super spicy. If you have a sensitive stomach like myself then I would recommend being careful with what you eat. You don't want to experience the same ordeal.
The storm cleared and I found myself looking at the beautiful historic park which protects one of the most important temples of Thailand. I had to shoot here and luckily I had one outfit left from my Nakon Rachasima tour.
In this photoshoot, I was wearing this colourful suit jacket from Thai Brand called Issue. I thought the green print would be a good contrast with the location's Khmer influence. The shirt was from another Thai Brand, Urban Dude, and the tartan shorts were handmade by popular Bangkok tailor called Pinky Tailor.
Phimai Historical Park is super easy to get to if you're driving and makes a good rest stop if you're heading to Khon Khean or Udon provinces. There's also many bus companies that travel to this location as well. I definitely will be back to explore this area and the town surrounding the park.
